Shillong, Mar 31: Raj Bhavan defeated Nongthymmai CC by 45 runs in a rain-affected second semifinal match of the Shillong Cricket League’s First Division at Polo Ground here today.
Raj Bhavan will meet Sunrisers CC, who won the first semi yesterday, in the final.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Vishal Konwar struck a superb century to take Raj Bhavan to 239/7 in their allotted 35 overs.
Konwar struck 101 from 72 deliveries and he was well-supported by Binay Kumar, who made 52 from 47 balls. Raj Najiar was the pick of the Nongthymmai bowlers with figures of 3/40.
Faced with a rather imposing target, Nongthymmai foundered thanks to some strong bowling and were placed on 127/6 in the 23rd over when rain washed out the rest of the match.
At that point, based on the DLS method, Nongthymmai should have scored 172 runs, meaning that Raj Bhavan were adjudged winners by 45 runs.
Kunal Lama (34 from 32) and Himlal Chettri (32 from 43) were the top scorers for Nongthymmai, while Binay Kumar claimed 2/25 for Raj Bhavan.
