Shillong, Apr 2: Rangkynsai CC defeated Nongmynsong CC by four wickets to win the first semifinal of the Shillong Cricket League’s Super Division at Polo Ground here yesterday.
Rohit Rai (pictured) starred with an all-round performance to seal the match in favour of Rangkynsai and he was subsequently named Player of the Match.
Rangkynsai won the toss and made their opponents bat first. Nongmynsong didn’t do too badly at all, making 172/7 in 30 overs. Rohit took 3/19 in 6 overs, while Laxman Chettri (39 from 38 deliveries) and Manish Rai (34 from 31) made the most runs for Nongmynsong. Charm Marbaniang also chipped in with 2/26 with the ball.
In reply, Rohit struck an entertaning 70 from 56 balls as Rangkynsai won by four wickets in 25.5 overs. Shavian Blah was the next highest scorer with 31 from 27. The best bowlers for Nongmynsong were Pushkar Raj Singh (3/28) and Himan Phukan (2/24).
