Shillong, Jul 2: A tiebreaker was called for to separate Rympei FC and Salini Colony in the 7th Invitation Wahiajer Football Tournament 2023 at Wahiajer Stadium yesterday.
After regulation time ended 2-2, Rympei pipped Salini Colony 5-3 in the penalty shootout to claim victory.
The first goal of the game came only in the 48th minute via Lowelljoy Lyngdoh for Rympei, who then took a 2-0 lead six minutes later thanks to Dawandap Pura Biam Pathaw.
However, Salini Colony fought back soon after, with Banker Muksor (58′) and Badki Sumer (65′) bringing the scores level once again before penalties saw them lose the fascinating contest.
Biam Pathaw was named Player of the Match.
The next game will be played on the 6th July at 2:30PM between Mawryngkneng Mission and Ranee FC.
