Shillong, Aug 22: Jalapang SC defeated Ehrngiew FC 4-3 in a tiebreaker to reach the quarterfinals of the 7th Invitation Wahiajer Football Tournament 2023 at Wahiajer Stadium yesterday.
Normal time finished 1-1 between the two sides, thanks to goals by Ehrngiew’s Banshan Nongdhar (67′) and Jalapang’s Ebormi Jat (80′). The match was then settled via penalties, which is becoming the norm this season.
Riburom Jat of Jalapang was named Player of the Match for his brilliant defending in the game.
The next match will be held on 26th August between Mawryngkneng Mission and Sikai FC at 3PM. This will be the first quarterfinal of the tournament.
