Shillong, Oct 6: Meghalaya recorded an 11-0 victory over Jammu & Kashmir in their third Group B match of the Junior Girls’ National Football Championship (Tier 2) in Jaipur today.
Eiladki Ksoo (1′, 45’+5, 49′, 83′, 85′) scored as many as five of these goals, two in the first half and three in the second as Meghalaya won three games on the trot. Ksoo is now one of the top five scorers in the tournament, with eight goals to her credit.
Alisha Lyngdoh (23′, 63′, 88′) also scored a hat-trick of her own, while the other goals were provided by Eightfulness Shangdiar (32′), Bira Pyngrope (62′) and Ba Inangsan Langbnang (67′).
Only one team from each of the four groups will progress to the semifinals. As of now, in Group B, it looks like a straight fight between Meghalaya and Uttar Pradesh. UP have played two matches so far and have won both.
Meghalaya and UP will meet on Sunday in what will be the former’s last group fixture and the latter’s penultimate one. A win will guarantee the Janbor Marbaniang-coached Meghalaya a spot in the semis, while a draw will keep us waiting until UP’s last group match on Tuesday. A loss, however, would almost certainly mean the end of the road.
