Shillong, Nov 16: Meghalaya were hammered 6-1 by Arunachal Pradesh in their Group E match of the Senior Women’s National Football Championship in Sundargarh, Odisha, today.
This result brought up a hat-trick of defeats as Meghalaya had lost to hosts Odisha and Gujarat earlier.
Yumlam Lali scored four goals today for Arunachal, in the 19th, 55th, 60th and 83rd minutes.
After she scored her second, Meghalaya’s Marbarin Nongrum managed to reduce the deficit in the 57th minute but the game quickly went Arunachal’s way after that. The winning side’s other goals were scored by Kai Rumi (64’) and Giani Ramching Mara (90’+1).
Meghalaya have one last group to go, now only for pride, which will be against Goa on 19th November.
