Shillong, Jan 28: Raj Biswa (pictured) got his century but Meghalaya still fell short of Mizoram’s first innings total, as they were bowled out for 281 in response to the opposition’s 359/10, in their Ranji Trophy plate group match in Anand, Gujarat, today.
By stumps, Mizoram were 237/9, giving them a lead of 315 going into the final day.
Left on 94 not out overnight, Raj today knocked off the six runs he needed for his third first-class century as Meghalaya resumed play this morning on 220/5.
However, his partner Ram Gurung (35 from 80 balls) was out early in the day and the rest of the tail did not wag for too long. As a result, Raj carried his bat through the innings, ending not out on a superlative 125, which was made off 283 deliveries and included 12 fours and one six.
With a first innings lead in the bag, Mizoram set off looking for runs in a hurry and guest player Agni Chopra delivered once again with a second century in the match. This time he was out for 101 in 71 deliveries, an innings that included 16 fours and one six; he had struck 105 in Mizoram’s first innings.
Akash Kumar Choudhary claimed 4/52 in 20 overs, which, to go along with his figures of 4/79 in the first innings, gave him match stats of 8/131 – another successful outing for him with the ball.
The four other wickets to fall were shared between Lerry Sangma (2/8 in 2 overs) and Swarajeet Das (2/49 in 12).
