Shillong, Apr 1: Laitjem CC and Pomshutia CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.
Laitjem came through as five-wicket victors over Nongdawah CC while Pomshutia had a small three-run victory against Smit CC.
In the first match, Nongdawah won the toss and batted first, though they were dismissed in 18.2 overs for 116. Moonlight War’s 29 from 22 balls was the top score, while Pynbhalang Kharsati took 4/10 in 3.5 overs.
In response, Laitjem chased down the target in 15.1 overs for the loss of five wickets. Marken B Kharkongor top-scored with 26 from 23, while Maialang War bagged 2/45 in 4 overs. Pynbhalang (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.
Later, Pomshutia batted first after winning the toss and scored at over 7 an over for a total of 143/6 in 20 overs. Aristerwell Suting led the way with an innings of 44 from 43 deliveries, while Raymond Thabah picked up half the wickets to fall for figures of 3/23 in 4 overs.
Smit were just inches from victory but were restricted to 140/8 in 20 overs. Miningstar Mylliemngap gave them real hope with 39 runs from 34 balls, while Skhembor Khongbtep claimed 2/19 in 4 overs. Aristerwell (pictured right) was adjudged Player of the Match.
