Shillong, Apr 7: Hurdles CC were able to defend well enough to beat Cricket Lovers CC by 32 runs in the final of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit yesterday.
Hurdles won the toss and chose to bat first but were restricted to 131/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with the top score being 23 from 19 balls by Pynshaitbor Girodh. Mehraj Hussain Sarkar took 2/15 in 4 overs for the best figures.
In reply, Cricket Lovers were hampered by the loss of too many wickets and could only muster 99/8 in 20 overs, with Rohit Yadav’s 23 from 36 being the high score. Jonathan Pariong claimed 3/11 in 4 overs and he was named Player of the Match.
Rohit, who scored a century and a couple of fifties as well as chipped in with the ball, was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
The dignitaries present on the final day included Meghalaya Cricket Association President Naba Bhattacharjee, MCA Honorary Secretary Gideon Kharkongor, MCA Honorary Treasurer Dhrubajyoti Thakuria, the Sordar and Secretary Shnong of Smit Pyllun, member of the Seng Samla Smit Pyllun and members of the EKHCA.
