Shillong, Jun 22: Lotus Secondary School won two titles at the District Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup 2024 in East Jaintia Hills, with Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School taking the other.

The finals of the U-15 boys’, U-17 girls’ and U-17 boys’ categories were held at Madan Deinchynrum yesterday. District School Education Officer Almo Parisha Syiem was the chief guest and star former footballer Eugeneson Lyngdoh the special guest. Assistant Commissioner Shiv Malviya, Deputy Superintendent of Police S Paslein and Jaintia Eastern College Principal P Nontdu were also present.

Lotus SS won both the U-17 finals, girls’ and boys’, while Khliehriat Presbyterian were champions in the U-15 boys’ category.

In the lone girls’ final, two Lotus SS players scored hat-tricks – Saphapaya Lyngdoh (4′, 10′, 24) and Risaka Phawa (14′, 15′, 19′) – as the team won 8-0 over Dkhiah East SS. Alisha Lyngdoh (26′) and Diwakapaya Dkhar (20′) provided the other two goals.

The U-15 boys’ final witnessed Khliehriat Presbyterian edge Step By Step SS 1-0 thanks to a goal by Arki Langstang (47′).

Lotus SS then returned to win the U-17 boys’ final 2-0 versus Wapung HSS. The goals here were scored by Shemphang Ksih (23′) and Timing Lyngdoh (40′).
