Shillong, Aug 1: A special four-goal performance from Wanboklang L Nongbri saw Umrynjah SC storm to a 5-1 victory over Laitkroh SC in the first quarterfinal of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Victory takes Umrynjah into the semifinals and, with it, next year’s Third Division as all four semifinalists will be promoted.
Wanboklang, who has already scored one hat-trick already this season, found the back of the net in the eighth, 26th, 30th and 33rd minutes, with team mate Milestone Umdor contributing one goal in the 23rd.
Laitkroh’s only goal was in the 32nd minute via Skhemlang Kharkongor.
Wanboklang now has 10 goals in his kitty and has consolidated his hold as the season’s top scorer.
The second quarterfinal will take place on Saturday between Umiew Maw U Sam SC and Nongkolew SC at 3:45PM at First Ground.
