Shillong, Aug 12: Karatekas from the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association won 32 medals at the All India Independence Karate Championship 2024, which was held in New Delhi earlier this month.
The medals comprised 9 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze, AMKA said in a press release today.
Twenty-nine Meghalaya karatekas won medals, three of whom won two: Nathaniel Levin Suting (bronze and gold in sub-junior Kata and Below 35kg Boys’ Kumite), Xenia Rose Nongsiej (silver and bronze in sub-junior Kata and Below 42kg Girls’ Kumite) and Ersanaki Kharjana (gold and bronze in sub-junior Kata and Below 42kg Girls’ Kumite).
The championship ran from 1st to 4th August and a contingent of 45 karatekas from AMKA, accompanied by three officials – Donboklang Lyngdoh, Arjun Sewa and GEM Kharpuri – represented Meghalaya.
