Shillong, Aug 23: Lamlynti SC ended the series of draws in Group D of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 by beating Tynring SC 2-1 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day, in Group A, ended 2-2 between Kharang SC and Mawryngkneng SC.
Khaiñkupar Iawphniang (9′) and Batskhem Thongnirit (37′) scored for Lamlynti in the first half and, despite a second half Tynring goal by Tyngshaiñ Ryntong (61′), they were able to hold on for victory.
With the other three games in Group D all being draws, Lamlynti now move to the top with 4 points.
Later, Sanlangki Marboh (34′, 90’+1) scored twice for Mawryngkneng, while Justpal Kurbah (65′) and Willcome Pdahkasiej (75′) produced one each for Kharang. Each side thus held the lead for part of the match but ultimately they ended up sharing points in the first draw of Group A.
There will be no Third Division match tomorrow as the final of the U-20 Fourth Division will take place between Umrynjah SC and Madan SCC at 3PM.
The next Third Division matches were scheduled to take place on Monday but will probably have to be postponed due to the holding of the Durand Cup 2024 semifinal in Shillong on that day.
