Shillong, Oct 10: Three Meghalaya footballers had a share in some national-level success as part of the Diamond Harbour FC team that won the 2024-25 I-League 3 season a few days ago.

This relatively young club is based in Kolkata and was founded in 2022. They beat Chanmari FC of Mizoram 1-0 in the I-League 3 final on 6th October.

Celebrating with the team were Shaiborlang Kharpan and Banpynkhrawnam Nongkhlaw (pictured kneeling left and right respectively), who have plied their trade in many an Indian football club over the years. Dawanchwa Carlos Challam (standing second from right) also briefly featured for the team. He made two match starts early on but disappeared from view after that.

On the other hand, Shaibor made one match start, was used as a substitute four times and also kept the bench warm for another four games. He also scored one goal against Downtown Heroes FC of Srinagar.

Ban’s stats are similar – he started one game, came on as a sub once and sat on the bench for a further four games unused.

Another player briefly in the ranks was Sheen Sohktung (pictured on the far right). He, however, never featured for Diamond Harbour in I-League 3 and was back in Shillong winning a local futsal tournament for the AG Office last month.
