Shillong, Nov 10: Lumkynsai SC and Umiew Maw U Sam SC won their respective quarterfinals of the Smit Area Sports Association’s 1st Football League Tournament 2024 yesterday.
Both matches were decided by tiebreakers and both ended 5-4. Lumkynsai defeated Laitdiengsai SC, while Umiew Maw U Sam knocked out Nongkrem SC.
The tournament has been on hold for some time due to several teams taking part in the Shillong Sports Association’s now-concluded Second Division 2024 and because the monsoon rains affected the condition of the ground.
The third and fourth quarterfinals will be held on 16th November, with the semifinals to follow on 23rd November and the final a week after that.
The third quarterfinal will be between Umphrup SC and Smit Mawmluh SC and the fourth will be between Sohryngkham SC and Mylliem Lum SC.
