Shillong, Nov 16: Diengshynrum SC and Shilliang Umshong SC will meet in the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s First Division 2024 after winning their respective semifinals in Khliehriat today.
By virtue of reaching the final, these two clubs will also be promoted to next season’s Super Division.
In the first semi Diengshynrum required a tiebreaker to get past Wahiajer Narpuh YSSC after the game was locked 1-1 even after extra time. The two goals were struck within 10 minutes of each other, with Fadical Pohshna (60′) netting first for Diengshynrum before Denzil Mukhim (69′) equalised for Wahiajer Narpuh.
Diengshynrum then won the penalty shootout 3-1.
Later, Shilliang Umdoh settled their match against Iatyllilang SC Hingaria quite easily with a 6-1 scoreline. Henjoyman Khongsai (38′, 53′, 64′) scored a hat-trick, while his Shilliang Umdoh team mates Lhunminthang Thauthang (43′, 70′) and Besterly Ksih (58′) also found the back of the net. Iatylliang’s lone goal was by Western Pohshna (56′).
