Shillong, Feb 19: Sohra Combines and Pomshutia CC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra yesterday.
Sohra Combines defeated Marbisu CC by 21 runs before Pomshutia beat Friends United by five wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sohra Combines reached a modest total of 126/6 in 20 overs, with a top score of 34 from 24 deliveries by James Marbaniang, which was made in the face of Dapkupar Nongrum’s impressive bowling wherein he claimed 4/14 in 4 overs.
In reply, Marbisu were dismissed for 105 in 16.5 overs. Fervent Rymbai took them to within striking distance of the target with a wonderful 58 from 51 balls but victory was not to be. Darius Ranee (pictured left) bagged 3/24 in 4 overs for the victors and was named Player of the Match.
Later, Friends United won the toss and batted first but could only make 118/9 in their 20 overs. Precious Nongrud top-scored with 27 from 24 and Skhembor Khongbtep returned figures of 4/15 in 4 overs with the ball.
Pomshutia took until the last over of their innings to win and got to 121/5 in 19.2 overs. Felix Savio Kharsati’s 30 from 45 was the high score. Skhembor (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
