Shillong, Mar 11: Langsning CC defeated Sputnik Spartans CC by 129 runs in their Group A match of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here yesterday.
Langsning won the toss and batted first. Abhishek Kumar (100 from 103 balls) and Riboklang Hynniewta (72 from 81) led them to a challenging total of 241/5 in their allotted 45 overs. Dilwar Khan (2/44 in 9 overs) returned the best figures for the bowling side.
Sputnik Spartans were then unable to mount much of a challenge in the chase as they were bowled out for just 112 in 25.4 overs. Sameer Thapa top-scored with 30 from 23 deliveries. Aaron AR Nongrum bagged 4/20 in 6 overs, while Riboklang claimed 3/26 in 6.4.
It was thus a tough decision on who should be named Player of the Match but ultimately the award was given to Abhishek (pictured left) for his fine century.
Today’s fixture is between Raj Bhavan and Sputnik CC in Group B.
