Shillong, Jul 18: Laitumkhrah’s win over Golflink was thrown into doubt after a protest was lodged at the conclusion of the Shillong Sports Association U-20 Fourth Division second round match here today.
Laitumkhrah had won 4-0 on the pitch following a hat-trick by Hamlet Thabah (8′, 68′, 80’+1) and a penalty converted by Dabetskhem Rympei (72’P) at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo.
However, Golflink later protested regarding the eligibility of certain Laitumkhrah players, TSR heard, so this result is not final. A win would put Laitumkhrah through to the quarterfinals (along with the other team in Pool A, Laitlulong) and knock out Golflink.
Later, in Pool B, Mawlynrei did manage to progress on the back of a 2-1 win against Them Rangshken. Having already lost to Lapalang 3-1 in their first second round match, Them Rangshken are thus out of the tournament, while Lapalang and Mawlynrei go through to the quarters.
Today Ferdinand Pyngrope (63′) and Elvin Kharsohnoh (80’+3) scored for Mawlynrei and Pynkhreh Langstieh (65′) for Them Rangshken.
