Shillong, Jul 30: Lumshyrmit SCSC and Lama Youth SC claimed the last two available slots in the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Third Division 2025 by winning their respective Round of 16 matches in Khliehriat on Monday.
Both sides had to come through penalty shootouts after regulation time ended 1-1 in both cases. In fact, even the tiebreaker scores were identical – 4-3.
Lumshyrmit had been up against Cham Cham SC. It was the latter who scored in the 69th minute via Raymon Phawa before Blining Dkhar (80’+4) equalised in the nick of time for Lumshyrmit.
Earlier, Lama Youth faced Rymbai SYWO. Lama Youth took the lead in the 26th minute through Hajanmi Rymbai but Fister Sympli equalised in the 38th minute for Rymbai SYWO.
The quarterfinals will be played on Friday and Saturday.
