Shillong, Aug 6: Mawlynrei reached the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 with a 1-0 win against Lapalang in the first semifinal at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Kerryland Mawlong scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute with a header off a corner kick.
Lapalang had a player sent off with a direct red card just before half time but Mawlynrei couldn’t take advantage of their superiority in numbers and the score remained 1-0 until the end of the 80-minute match.
All four teams that reached the semis have already secured promotion to next season’s Third Division, but Mawlynrei now have a shot at the Fourth Division title and the glory that goes with it.
The second semifinal will take place tomorrow between Mawkasiang and Lummawbah at 2:30PM.
