Shillong, Aug 22: Mawpat and Mawryngkneng won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
In Group A Mawpat defeated Umpling 2-1 with all three goals coming in the second half. Thomson Lyngdoh (53′, 66′) scored both of Mawpat’s goals, while Firstborn Marwein (79′) provided that of Umpling.
Later, in Group C, Mawryngkneng blanked Sohiong 2-0. Andy Kharsati (50′) and Banker Mynsong (63′) scored for Mawryngkneng in what was the first match for either side. Mawryngkneng are the first team in Group C to keep a clean sheet.
This was Mawpat’s first match of the season and Umpling’s second; the latter had lost to Jongksha in the season opener on 18th August.
