Shillong, Nov 16: 7 Wasa United won the final of the 1st Women Football Tournament 2025, organised by the West Jaintia District Sports Association, at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Jowai yesterday.
7 Wasa defeated Carpe Diem 2-1. The victors and runners-up should now be eligible to participate in the next edition of the Meghalaya State Women’s League.
To win, 7 Wasa had to come from a goal behind as Deigracia Dan scored first for Carpe Diem in the 49th minute of the hour-long match. Amethis Darnei (59′) then equalised for 7 Wasa before Nidaroiki Biam (60’+3) scored the winner in stoppage time.
The Player of the Final was Nidaroiki. Other individual awards were presented to Daphimon Khyriem of Ladthadlaboh (Top Scorer), Nangpyniarbha Ryngkhlem of 7 Wasa (Best Goalkeeper) and Baiarbha Nongrum of Carpe Diem (Player of the Tournament).
7 Wasa were presented with the champions’ trophy and a cheque of Rs 20,000, while Carpe Diem were awarded Rs 10,000.
