Shillong, Mar 1: Young Guns CC defeated New Friends Union by five wickets in Group B of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2026, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, in Polo today.
NFU won the toss and batted first, eventually getting all out for 181 in 42 overs. Kevin Christopher (58 from 71 balls) was the standout batter, while Mewankitbok Kharpuri (2/32 in 9 overs) took a couple of wickets for Young Guns.
The chase saw Rudra Singh Rathor lead the way with 84 not out from 96 balls, while Manthan Dey managed 37 from 38. Young Guns knocked off the required runs pretty quickly, taking just 36.2 overs to reach the target. Akash K Chaudhary, a star bowler for the state team, returned the best figures of 2/38 in 9 overs for NFU.
Rudra, who also took a wicket in the first innings, was named Player of the Match.
