Shillong, Apr 2: Friends United and Cricket Smit will vie to be champions of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 after both came through their respective semifinals today.

The SFs had been scheduled to be held yesterday but adverse weather meant that they were held today. Both games were still reduced to 12 overs a side.

In the first match, between Friends Utd and Sohra Combine, the latter won the toss and chose to field first but Friends Utd did well with the bat to post 114/4 in 12 overs. E Nathan A Diengdoh led the way with 42 from 30 deliveries, while Darius Rani took 3/26 in 3 overs.

Sohra Combine were then dismissed for 102. Jona L Nonglait’s 30 from 22 balls was the high score, while Nangkiewkor Moore Don took 3/11 in 3 overs and was named Player of the Match. He had also made 30 with the bat in Friends United’s innings.

Later, Mawphlang CC won the toss and also chose to field first against Cricket Smit, who made 93/8 in their 12 overs. Pynkhrawbok Thabah top-scored with 34 from 19 deliveries, while, on the other side of the equation, Bankit (no surname provided) took 2/19 in 2 overs.

It was a gettable total but Mawphlang were restricted to 83/6 in their 12 overs. Kyrshanlang Lyngdoh hit 33 from 31 and Pynkhrawbok bagged 2/14 in 3 overs. For his all-round performance he was named Player of the Match.
