Shillong, Nov 25: Shillong Lajong FC will look to make it a hat-trick of wins when they face struggling side Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) FC in their second North East Derby in the I-League 2023-24 on Saturday at First Ground, Polo, here. Kick-off will be at 2PM.
TRAU, from Manipur, are yet to register a win in this season of the I-League campaign and only have 1 point from a draw against Delhi FC on 30th October. Since then they have been on the wrong end of five consecutive defeats and find themselves at the very bottom of the points table.
Lajong have already met one North East team, NEROCA (also from Manipur), this season at home. That match ended 1-1.
In the pre-match press conference yesterday, TRAU coach L Nandakumar Singh said that his team will have to perform at their very best if they want to get their first three points. He also admired the Shillong fans for their passionate support of the home team.
Lajong are on a high at the moment, having won two games in a row, which came on the heels of three straight draws.
SLFC are currently fifth in the standings with 9 points and this will be their fifth home game in a row.
Coach Bobby Lyngdoh Nongbet expressed his happiness with the way things are working out but has cautioned his charges not to take TRAU lightly.
