Shillong, Nov 16: Sohryngkham SC continued with their remarkable turnaround in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 by blazing past Umphyrnai SC 5-1 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Wallambha Kharpran (46′, 66′, 75′, 81′) netted four goals and team mate Pynshongdor Pyngrope (38′) one for Sohryngkham. Robertstar Malngiang (61′) scored Umphyrnai’s only goal.
After going winless in their first five matches (with three draws), Sohryngkham have now won twice and that has lifted them to fourth place in the standings, tied with Mylliem on 9 points but with head-to-head advantage, though the latter have a game in hand.
Wallambha, who scored once in the first match, has produced seven goals in the last three games to become the top scorer of the season.
