Shillong, Mar 29: Verem Gedaliah Nongsiej secured a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle event at the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 in Chhattisgarh on Friday.
Verem is part of an eight-member swimming contingent representing the Meghalaya Swimming Association. She was trained by high performance coach Laitonjam Santosh.
The Games will conclude on 3rd April and Meghalaya has also bagged another bronze, this time in weightlifting on Thursday, through Larityngkai Lawriniang in the 53kg category.
Meghalaya is currently 14th in the medals table, according to the official standings.
