Shillong, Apr 4: Sputnik CC and Rangkynsai SC won their respective matches in the Super 8 stage of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Ground here today.

While Sputnik won by a whopping 101 runs against Young Guns CC in Group A, Rangkynsai secured a narrow 9-run victory over Capital Stars in Group B.

Young Guns won the toss and opted to field first. Sputnik had no trouble with that, though, as they were able to post 234/3 in 20 overs. Amiangshu Sen battered 69 not out from 35 deliveries, while Manish Kumar Ray hit 59 from 31.

Young Guns batted the full 20 overs in the chase but were restricted to 133/7. Aditya Singh top-scored with 30 from 39 balls. Aditya Singhania (2/16 in 4 overs) and Nafees Siddique (2/24 in 3) were the top performing bowlers. Amiangshu was named Player of the Match.

In the other game, Rangkynsai batted first on winning the toss and made an even bigger first innings total – 240/5 in 20 overs, exactly 12 per over. Kishan Lyngdoh led from the front with 81 from 35 balls, while Ajay Duhan made 55 from 39. Amit Boro was the only bowler with a brace, having taken 2/48 in 4 overs.

Capital Stars gave the chase a good try but were limited to 231/6 in 20 overs. Joydeep Singh batted excellently for his 84 from 49 balls, while Sanjay Kumar Singh contributed 42 from 21. Ram Gurung was the best of the bowlers with 2/38 in 4 overs. Kishan was named Player of the Match.
