Shillong, Apr 21: Langsning FC were given a real fight by Lawbah SC in the 5th Meghalaya State League but came away from the eight-goal thriller with a 5-3 victory today at Mairang.
Nelson Rymbai (7′, 10′, 88′) scored a hat-trick for the winners but one of Lawbah’s players, Adonydevy Riwan (19′, 45’+1, 89′) also registered a treble in a losing cause in the Group F fixture.
Nelson has proven to be particularly dangerous in the opening few minutes and, like he did in Langsning’s first game, he scored twice in under 10 minutes of the start today before adding another late in the day. Dajiedlang Wanshnong (33′) and Chusrang Sangma (42′) were the other scorers for Langsning.
There were also two interesting contests in Shillong, with Khimusniang SC coming from a goal down to beat Mawshun SCC 3-1 in Group A at the SSA Stadium, while Mawlum Tyrsad SCC were 4-2 victors over Mulang SC Nongbah in Group B at the MFA Ground.
Arkhangel Khongtyngkut (31′) had Mawshun in front, very briefly as it turned out as Khimusniang equalised just two minutes later through Civility Khongmalai (33′). Primrose Lamat then headed in a cross in the 65th minute and Lamborki Lyngdoh (74′) completed the comeback.
On the other hand, Mawlum Tyrsad went 3-0 up in just 22 minutes via Banshem Khongsit (5′), Marcellino Khongsit (11′) and Pyndapborlang Khongsit (22’P). However, Mulang got back into the contest with goals on either side of half time, first with an own goal conceded by Bansamlang Nongbet (44′) and then through a strike by their own Woldrik Susngi (46′). That made the second half extremely interesting but Mawlum Tyrsad added a fourth goal after Ebetstar Nongbet (88′) sent the ball in low a few minutes before the final whistle.
In Williamnagar, the Group G contest saw Maram FC’s winning streak ended by Janepih YSCA. This was Maram’s third game and after two successive wins they were handed a 3-0 defeat by Janepih, who are now on a two-match streak of their own. Edyson Iawphniaw (26′), Alphascius Sangriang (30′) and Wankuparlang Khardiengngan (65′) were the scorers.
There was also success for Mawten SC in Mawkyrwat as they defeated Mawlarshong SC 3-1 in Group H. Here Charles Lyngdoh (3′) scored the joint fastest goal of the season, while his team mates Oversharp Iawphniaw (57′) and Debenroy Thongnibah (90’+4) added a couple more in the second half. Hopefullness Wanniang (82′) also gave Mawlarshong something to cheer about late in the game.
Finally, there were also two goalless draws today, something that we had not seen yet this season. In Amlarem, home side Amlarem SC and Laskein SCSC were deadlocked throughout in Group C and this was also the case in Group D at Khliehriat where the eagerly anticipated local derby finished 0-0 between Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC and Thangskai Tiger SC.
There will be only one match tomorrow, between Attong Matgrik FC and Balmanduri FC in Group G at Williamnagar. Kick-off will be at 3PM.
