Shillong, Jan 8: Nagaland are in a commanding position over Meghalaya in their U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy plate group match, leading by 371 runs at the end of the second day’s plate in Jorhat today.
Resuming on 61/5 while chasing Nagaland’s first innings score of 188, Meghalaya were bowled out for exactly 100 runs, giving their opponents a lead of 88. Raghav Kapur was Meghalaya’s top-scorer with 44.
Two wickets for Abhishek and one for Sudhir Sahani saw Nagaland reduced to 27/3, but a 123-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Aditya (89) and Rishabh (78) rescued Nagaland.
Meghalaya’s Bipin and Prashant dismissed these two batsmen, but a further good partnership of 84 for the sixth wicket took Nagaland to 283/5 at stumps, which has certainly made them the more favoured team in this particular contest.
