Shillong, Nov 22: Umar Majeed took 6-32 as Jammu & Kashmir won their U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy cricket match by an innings and 64 runs against a combined Associates & Affiliates team on the fourth and final day in Shillong today.

The first day of the four-day match had to be abandoned after there was too much moisture in the pitch due to persistent rains in the city in the lead-up to the game.

J&K chose to bat first after winning the toss and made 338 all out in 119.3 overs. They then bowled out their opponents for just 91 and enforced the follow-on.

Resuming their second innings on 27/0 and still 220 runs behind, the A&A openers added another 20 runs before Harshraj became Majeed’s first victim.

Wickets then continued to fall until A&A were 81/4 and it looked like J&K might just wrap things up before lunch before Paramjeet Singh (41 runs) and captain Tahmeed (45) put on 78 runs for the fifth wicket to steady the ship.

However, the pair were dismissed within the space of an over and that led to a rapid collapse, with the last six wickets falling for just 26 runs and the innings ending on 183.

The other wicket takers for J&K were Mujtaba Yousuf (3-33) and Sahil Lotra (1-17). Majeed ended with impressive match figures of 7-60.
