Shillong, May 18: U-18 Shillong Premier League defending champions Langsning had a near-perfect first match of the season with an 8-0 victory over Nongkrem at Third Ground here today.
Rikmenlang Nongrum registered the first hat-trick of the season, scoring in the sixth, 70th and 82nd minutes for Langsning. Mebanteikupar Mylliemngap produced a brace (10′, 54′), while Ryngkat Ryngksai (45’+1), Damanbha Kharthangmaw (86′) and Sparkle Khongshai (90’+3) got a goal each.
The result could’ve been a lot worse, but after Langsning got their two early goals the Nongkrem goalkeeper made several good saves to deny the reigning champions until a defender made a mistake in first half stoppage time to allow Ryngksai to score.
The second half was very different as Langsning popped in goals every few minutes.
Yesterday we noted that Rangdajied United’s 7-0 win over Ryntih was the highest since the 2017 season. Today’s result means that Rangdajied’s record lasted just one day!
This was the last match of the first round and Langsning join Rangdajied, Laban and Nangkiew Irat as teams who have claimed a full three points from their opening fixture.
On Monday Laban are scheduled to take on Nangkiew Irat at 3:45PM.
