Shillong, May 30: Nongdawah defeated Pdengshnong in the final of the First Division of the 11th Mawryngkneng Greater Football League 2-1 on Saturday.
This was the sixth time that Nongdawah have emerged as champions in the competition.
It was they who took the lead, through Mitchell (first name only) in the 41st minute before Pdengshong equalised on the hour mark through Iohbor Mukhim.
D Nongrum then restored Nongdawah’s lead and claimed the title for his team after he found the back of the net right at the end of the match.
Mawmang had finished first in the round robin stage but were knocked out in the playoffs. Nongdawah were second in the league stage and Pdengshnong third.
