Shillong, Sep 13: Marqueenless Ramsiej won gold for Meghalaya on the last day of the 33rd East Zone Junior Athletics Championship in Patna yesterday.
Ramsiej came first in the 5,000 metres U-20 girls’ race.
Meanwhile, Wolbetstar Ramsiej added a second medal to his kitty, bagging the silver in the 10,000m U-20 boys’ race to add to his bronze from the U-20 boys’ 5,000 metres race.
Anushka Majhong also picked up a bronze medal in the U-16 girls’ high jump.
On Sunday, Sanctify Pale claimed a silver medal in the U-18 boys’ 1500 metres race.
The Meghalaya athletes who narrowly missed out on medals were Skhemlang Suba, who finished fourth in the the 800m and 1,500m races, while Donbok Shabong was fourth in the 400m.
The Meghalaya Athletics Association congratulated all the medal winners and coach Pleasantly Synnah, who managed to perform well despite the short preparation time. MAA General Secretary Finely Pariat also thanked the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and Sports Authority of India Centre Shillong.
