Shillong, Oct 25: Rupert Nongrum has signed once again for NorthEast United FC, it has been reported.

Nongrum joins from Punjab FC, an I-League club, with whom he has played for two seasons and scored four goals in 23 games.

The midfielder had been with NEUFC for two seasons prior but didn’t have the greatest of success as he sat out the 2018-19 season with injury before making only four appearances the following year.

The 26-year-old is a Shillong Lajong FC product and got his first taste of the ISL on a loan spell with Delhi Dynamos in 2016. He then left Lajong for good in 2017 on being signed by ATK, for whom he made 15 appearances in the 2017-18 ISL, arguably the high point of his career.

Apart from club football, he also made a couple of appearances for the India U-19 national team in years gone by.

For their part, the Highlanders have experienced another poor start to a season, with three defeats in as many games and they are bottom of the ISL table.
