Shillong, Sep 11: The Laitsohpliah to Mawsmai road will be closed for three hours on 30th September for the Sohra International Half Marathon 2023.
A review meeting was chaired today by Sohra civil sub-division Extra Assistant Commissioner J Umdor. In attendance were Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John F Kharshiing and MSOA and Meghalaya Athletics Association General Secretary Finely L Pariat along with representatives of the villages along the 21km route.
Also present were officials from the Education, Tourism and Public Works Departments and heads of educational institutions.
A detailed discussion was held as to the closure of traffic for three hours along the route from 6AM to 9AM on 30th September. A decision was made to circulate information to all stakeholders, especially from the tourism sector in order to not create any inconvenience to the tourists, etc.
The organisers are expecting greater participation for the second edition after last year’s successful inaugural event.
