Shillong, Oct 30: The Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 football league began today at First Ground, Polo, here today with two Group A matches.
Sohryngkham SC were involved in a cracker, having to come from a goal down to beat Mawtawar SC 3-2. After that Jongksha SC stormed to a 3-0 victory against Laitlyngkot SC.
Fredrick Lyngdoh scored in the very first minute of the season for Mawtawar but Sohryngkham overcame the shock to go 3-1 up thanks to Wanlambha Kharpran (37′, 53′) and Iarbok Kshiar (47′) before a 75th minute goal for Mawtawar by Ricky Chyne.
Later, Laitlyngkot had no answer to Jongksha, whose Mangiarkam Kshiar (36′), Franky Nongspung (69′) and Jopborlang Khongsngi (76′) scored a goal each.
Tomorrow will see the first of the U-20 Fourth Division semifinals take place between Lamlynti FC of Madanlyngkhi and Kharang SC. That game will kick-off at 1:45PM at First Ground.
