Shillong, Apr 26: The office of the District Sports Officer of East Jaintia Hills began its District Level Inter School Athletics Meet 2024 yesterday at Madan Teilang Playground.
The three-day event will conclude on Saturday.
The meet was opened on the first day by the EJH Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jacqueline Una Kharpuri.
A few medals have already been awarded. In the U-18 girls’ 800m race, Durka Sana of San Shnong Secondary School came first, followed by Younity Rasmut and Hika Dkhar, both of Sham Sham Sec School.
In the U-16 boys’ 800m final, Wanchan Ryngkhlem of Wapung Higher Secondary School finished first, Fullninstar Dkhar of Khliehriat HS School second and Bhalang Rymbai of San Shnong Sec School in third.
The U-14 boys’ 600m title was won by Freely Dkhar of Nongsyntoi Upper Primary School. He was followed in second place by Hiporkani Sutnga of Tluh Sec School, with Susanika Pala of Sacred Heart, Lamyrsiang, third.
The U-18 girls’ shot put event was won by Kheinkorlang Rymbai of Rymbai Government Sec School, followed by Banisha Nongtdu of Byndihati Sec School in second and Samery Dkhar of Sham Sham Sec School in third.
The timings and distances of the above athletes were not mentioned in today’s press release.
