Shillong, Nov 19: Mawtawar SC moved back up to first place in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 after a 2-2 draw against Lawsohtun SC at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match saw Mylliem SC defeat Nongrah SC 2-0.
Mylliem’s two goals were scored by Shembha Langbnang (12′) and Closing Lynshing (75′).
Later, Emer Nongrut (1′) scored one of the fastest goals of the season for Mawtawar but Lawsohtun came back at them through goals from Rishanskhem Nongkynrih (15′) and Kitboklang Pale (52′). Wallam Dkhar (82′), however, found an equaliser for Mawtawar and they were able to maintain their unbeaten streak this season.
Mawtawar are tied with Malki SC on 15 points but are in front thanks to head-to-head after Mawtawar beat them four days ago.
Lawsohtun moved up one position thanks to this draw. They are tied with Mawkhar SC, who they are yet to meet, on points but have a better goal difference (-3 to -5). With two rounds to go, there is still everything to play for both at the top and bottom of the table.
The next fixture is scheduled for Thursday when Malki will take on bottom side Umphyrnai SC at 2:15PM.
