Shillong, Feb 23: The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association conducted its annual general body meeting here yesterday where the executive committee for the 2025-29 period was elected.
Four climbers who won medals at last month’s North East zonal championship were also felicitated at the event, at which Pynbianglang Laloo, Assistant Secretary of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, was present as an observer of the election.
MeSCMA was founded in 2002 and has since promoted adventure activities and competitive sport climbing throughout Meghalaya in collaboration and with the support of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, district sport offices, Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and MSOA.
This year sport climbing was included as a competitive event in the 6th Meghalaya Games and some athletes from Garo Hills won medals for the first time, a press release from the association said yesterday.
The new executive committee will continue to be led by Malviancy Shabong as President. She will be assisted by Dr WW Phira (Vice-President), Wallambok Lyngdoh (General Secretary), Teimiki Sungoh (Assistant Secretary) and David Laloo (Treasurer).
Five executive members were also elected – Fullmoon Lyngdoh, Pilaster Nongsiej, Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Anthony Nongrum and Teiboklang Wanniang.
