Shillong, Feb 27: Cricket Lovers and Sohra Combines will meet in the final of the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, after they won their respective semifinal matches in Sohra today.
Cricket Lovers first defeated Laitjem CC by a comfortable 72 runs before Sohra Combines beat Friends United by nearly the same margin – 66 runs.
The first semifinal saw Cricket Lovers bat first after winning the toss and they went at over 9 runs an over for a total of 185/9 in 20 overs, with Shavian Blah leading the way with 69 from 40 deliveries. Newrilang Wankhar bowled excellently for Laitjem, taking 4/27 in 4 overs.
In reply, Laitjem were restricted to 119/9 in 18.4 overs with a top score of 21 from 27 by Poilang Thawmuit. Damechwa Khongsngi (pictured left) bagged 2/8 in 2 overs and was named Player of the Match.
Later, Sohra Combines also chose to bat first after winning the toss and they put up 170/7 in 20 overs, with Ryan Emi Swer knocking 36 from 22 balls and Nangkiewdor Moore Don claiming 2/33 in 4 overs.
Friends United couldn’t keep up with the required run rate and only managed 104/8 in 20 overs. Nangkiewdor hit 41 from 38 and Kevin Diengdoh returned figures of 3/28 in 4 overs. Ryan (pictured right) was the Player of the Match.
