Shillong, Aug 24: Meghalaya lost to Jharkhand 7-0 in Group A of the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 today in Jorhat, Assam.

Jharkhand were leading 2-0 at half time thanks to Anamika Kumari (22’) and Anshu Oraon (45’+3) before the floodgates opened the second half and Jharkhand added another five goals. These were scored by Anamika (48’, 81’) again, Pooja Kumari (78’), Nensi Munda (83’) and Khusbu Tigga (90’+4).

Only the winners from each of the four groups will progress to the semifinals. This was Meghalaya’s last match of the tournament.

Meghalaya lost their opening fixture to Mizoram but then beat Gujarat on Friday.

Meghalaya, Gujarat and Mizoram finished with 3 points each. The All India Football Federation website lists Mizoram in second place in Group A, followed by Gujarat and Meghalaya.
