Shillong, Oct 26: Godavari FC and Lakecity FC won their respective matches in Group C of the 2026-27 I-League 3 at the SSA Stadium here today.
Lakecity came from a goal down to beat Chhaygaon FC of Assam 2-1 in the early kick-off before Godavari steamrolled Kuppuraj FC 5-1 in the evening.
Rohan Manar scored Chhaygaon’s first goal of the campaign in the 49th minute via a penalty but Gagandeep Singh (71′) equalised for Lakecity of Madhya Pradesh before Abhijit Tawhare (87′) provided a sharp header from a corner kick just before the end of 90 minutes.
This was Lakecity’s second win in a row (they lost to Godavari in the opener on Thursday) while it is two defeats in two outings for Chhaygaon, though today’s performance was far superior than in their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Nongkseh on Saturday.
Later, Yhoto Lohe (22′, 30′) scored a brace in under half an hour for Godavari before Syed Suhail Pasha (35′, 65′) added a couple more to the team from Andhra Pradesh’s tally. Kamgouthang Thomsong (82′) scored just seconds after coming on as a late substitute after an error from Kuppuraj’s Khangmiki Pale but the club from Pondicherry didn’t come away empty-handed as Sangti Janai Shianglong (90′) scored a consolation goal towards the end.
That last goal ensured that Nongkseh retained their hold on first place in the group. Nongkseh, Godavari and Lakecity all have 6 points but the Meghalaya team have the better goal difference (+7, +6 and +1 respectively).
On Wednesday, Chhaygaon will be up against Godavari at 9AM followed by the return of Nongkseh against Lakecity at 5PM.
