New SPL champions beat Shilliang Umdoh 7-0

Bhoirymbong, Dec 16: Langsning eased past Shilliang Umdoh 7-0 in the opening match of the inaugural Meghalaya State League at Kurkalang Ground here today, with Wanlamsuk Nongkhlaw (pictured in red) picking up four goals in the Group B fixture.

It’s great to see a tournament like this taken to some of the smaller towns in Meghalaya but the condition of the pitch wasn’t conducive for great football.

Langsning appeared to take time getting used to the rough field before Nongkhlaw bagged the only goal of the first half in the 42nd minute from a tight angle.

The second half rained goals, however, with Andyson Lapang (52′, 87′) and Fullmoon Mukhim (60′) getting amongst the goals. The day belonged to Nongkhlaw, though, with the No. 17 finding the back of the net three times in the second session – 62nd, 63rd and 90+1 minutes.
