Shillong, Apr 30: Langsning FC will hope to do the double over Jamshedpur FC reserves and pick up another three points when the two sides meet here tomorrow at the JN Stadium at 4PM.
Entry will be free for Tuesday’s Second Division League game except for seats in the VIP gallery, which have been reserved. This will be Langsning’s final group stage home match.
In the reverse fixture Langsning had inflicted a 3-1 defeat on the reserve team of Jamshedpur on 4th April at the latter’s home ground. Stephanson Pale had scored a brace, with an own goal adding to Langsning’s total.
Jamshedpur, who have garnered only 8 points from as many matches and who are second from bottom in Group C, have come to Shillong straight after their punishing 5-0 defeat at TRAU FC in Imphal on 26th April. The key challenge for the young Jamshedpur players will thus be to pick themselves up from such a one-sided defeat and play well against opponents that are determined to bag a victory.
The Shillong team won their opening home fixture, but then lost once and drew twice. However, they have returned to the city after a superlative performance against table toppers Bengaluru FC reserves, who they defeated 3-0 in Bangalore on 25th April. Lancine Toure, Kitboklang Pale and captain Brolington Warlarpih were the goal-scorers on that occasion.
Langsning now hope to carry forward that momentum and put on a good show in front of their home fans.
Their fight to qualify for the final round of the Second Division received a boost on 29th April when Bengaluru defeated Mohammedan Sporting 2-1, giving Langsning a three-point lead over the latter. Langsning currently have 12, while Mohammedan have 9, with both sides having two games to go.
The Langsning players are excited for tomorrow’s contest and the club have encouraged the football loving population to come out and support the team in their final home game.
