Shillong, Sep 21: The X1.In Championship, a national mixed martial arts (MMA) event, is coming to Shillong, with the Laban SC Indoor Stadium to host the two-day event, which begins tomorrow.

Sixty men and two women are taking part in the Shillong competition, with the top fighters to take part in the final round in Dimapur later this year.

Fourteen fighters taking part hail from Meghalaya, including Apdalien Marwein, Johnny Nongrum, Pynshngain Bareh, Welford Alban Nongkhlaw, Andy S Masynting, Carol Marboh and Benedict Lamin.

The Shillong edition of the X1.In Championship, the first of its kind to come to the Meghalaya capital, is being organised by CR Projects.

Tickets range in price from a high of Rs 1,000 for ringside seats, down to Rs 500 and Rs 300. Tickets are available at the venue.

Both amateur and professional fights will be of three rounds. Each round of the amateur fights will be of three minutes, while the rounds in the professional fights will be of five minutes.

The weigh-ins on Saturday will begin at 1PM, with the first fights taking place at 3PM.
