Shillong, May 28: Laban SC manager Vicky M Sangma has been banned from the dugout for six matches after telling a referee that he should “get his eyes checked”.

A heated Sangma said this to the main referee on 20th May when Laban lost to Nangkiew Irat 3-1. He was informed of his ban by the Shillong Sports Association during Laban’s match against Marbisu yesterday.

Sangma thus won’t be seen in the dugout until Laban’s penultimate match of the season.

This is the first such punishment that TSR has heard of in Shillong, though it may have been dished out plenty of times before and we just didn’t hear about it.

Internationally, in March of this year Tottenham Hotspur’s boss Mauricio Pochettino was given a two-match touchline ban as well as being fined nearly Rs 9 lakh for confronting a referee in the English Premier League.
