Shillong, Nov 22: The 6th National Level MTB Tawang Cycling Competition was
organised by the Arunachal Cycling Association and Cycling Federation of India on 18th
and 19th November.
A team of 10 cyclists from Meghalaya participated in the race and they have made the state proud by bagging 10 medals in various disciplines. The event was held in the tough and rugged terrains of Arunachal Pradesh at high altitudes and saw participants from all over the country as well as Nepal.
This is the first time that the Meghalaya Cycling Association has seen a great success with the sport of cycling constantly evolving, a press release said today. The state association had conducted a couple of training programmes for athletes a few weeks before the event and the results have been promising, it added.
The MCA congratulated all the participants and also the whole team that was involved throughout the process.
Meghalaya results:
1. Women Open XCO Mass Start – Phyrnai Kyndait (Gold) and Lawankordor Swer (Bronze)
2. Men Junior XCO Mass Start – Lambormi Phawa (Bronze)
3. Men Junior XCO relay – Lambormi Phawa and Dalenmi Sana (both Silver)
4. Men Elite XCO Relay – Kevinjohn Khyllait and Alvindarison Wanniang (both Bronze). Three cyclists also won consolation prizes
5. Men Elite XCO Mass Start – Maxius Wanniang (4th place) and Middlestar N Marak
(5th place)
6. Men Junior XCO Mass Start – Dalenmi Sana (4th place)
