Shillong, Nov 27: As part of the celebrations for its forthcoming 55th Raising Day, the Border Security Force organised a friendly football match between the youth of Nayabazar, East Khasi Hills, and those of Bishnukandi, Bangladesh, near the BSF outpost in Nayabazar yesterday.

The match was inaugurated by BSF Deputy Inspector General of Police Shubhash Chandra. Officers from the BSF and their counterparts from Border Guards Bangladesh witnessed the nailbiting match. Around 13,000 fans watched the game as well, the BSF said in a press release today.

Full time ended 1-1 and the Bangladesh village won through 5-4 on penalties.

Trophies and medals were distributed to both teams.
